Wagglemag: Health + Sickness is the brainchild of our Managing Editor, who back in the long wet summer of 2007 was overtaken by the urge to sit down and write something deliciously different about the world of healthcare. The article produced was funny and cynical, drawn from the sleep deprived fantasy of a veteran healthcare worker. Thus "Granny Fight Club" was born.

Once produced and well recieved, the shock realisation hit home that there was absolutely no existing publication that would welcome such a non-factual and frankly entertaining feature. Imagine, doctor's and nurse's reading something just for a laugh - preposterous! That's when we put our heads together and considered the situation. Faced with nowhere to publish articles for pure entertainment or expression, and with the absolute belief that there are many others out there who have the combined ideas and talent to make us laugh - radical action was indicated

And so we present Health + Sickness. Devised to redress the balance. Medic's have the ability to see the funny side even when the situation appears grim. How can we waste that? Health + Sickness is a vehicle for every single frustrated clinician to collect their thoughts, put them down on paper and share them with the nation.

We welcome contributions of all styles and with any relevant content. Contributors are free to remain anonymous and our gain is the loss of staid, established journals who for reasons of tradition, reputation or political correctness have elected not to acknowledge the bittersweet, comedy and frustration combination we all enjoy through patient contact and organisational bewilderment every day.

Health + Sickness is your magazine. Read it, comment, laugh. critisise, contribute, use it to prop up a wonky table in the pub - we're happy to be of service. This magazine represents a new choice for healthcare staff.
